Lot description
99 × 145 cm (147 × 193 cm with frame)
Oil on canvas

Georg Fischhof studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich and in Vienna. He signed many of his paintings with various pseudonyms. The picture shows a popular view of Venice, the Riva degli Schiavoni, Venice's main promenade. The Doge's Palace can be seen in the background on the right, behind it the Renaissance building of the Biblioteca Marciana. In the distance rise the dome of Santa Maria della Salute. The dark boats on the left contrast in shape and color with the detailed life on the quay. There is also another version attributed to Ludwig Hans Fischer (1848–1915). Which was auctioned on 23.10.2019 at the Dorotheum auction house, which had the result of 62.800 euros
