Biography
Studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts in 1893-98 and at the Académie Julian in Paris. In 1900 he settled in Rome, from where he made numerous artistic trips, including to Egypt. In 1908 he returned to Lviv, where he settled permanently. There he received a commission to decorate the interiors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He was involved in stage design and served as stage inspector at the City Theater. He designed theatrical costumes and stained glass windows. In his painting work, he used the language of naturalism, using a contrasting, bold color palette. He mainly created popular marine and oriental scenes, often depicting human labor or centered around female figures.
