Erwin CZERWENKA
1887 Chernivtsi - 1970 Krakow
Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in 1905/06-10. He was a student of L. Wyczółkowski, whose work - like the paintings of J. Stanislawski - had a great influence on him. He made frequent trips to Italy and France. He painted landscapes and portraits, and later designed stained glass windows. In 1913-1930, he was a professor of drawing in Krakow gymnasiums. He was a co-founder of the Union of Polish Artists (circa 1915). He participated in many exhibitions including: Exhibition of E. Czerwenka and Z. Stryjeńska, Krakow (1928), Exhibition at TPSP, Krakow (1921, 1929, 1934), Wojciech Weiss and his students, TPSP Krakow (1934), Exhibition of TZSP in Warsaw with the Group of Four. The artist's paintings are in the collection of the National Museum in Cracow.
