The drawing bears on the back an old label attached to the frame with a pen inscription: "FALLS OF TERNI, ROME / BY / GEN. ROBT. PYM, R.G., G.B.".
In the large drawing we recognise, albeit partially transfigured, some particularly representative monuments of southern Umbria. Of particular note are the Marmore Falls with the Specola of Pio VI, the Augustus Bridge and the Eroli Mill.
