David Ossipovitch Widhopff (Odessa 1867 - Saint-Clair-sur-Epte 1933) French painter, poster artist and caricaturist of Ukrainian origin. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Odessa, then continued his studies at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. In August 1887 he went to Paris, where he began his studies at the Académie Julian. In 1888, 1891 and 1893 he participated in the Paris salons. He went to Brazil, where he established a school of fine arts in the state of Pará. Upon his return to Paris, he became friends with Alphonse Mucha - painter and writer Léon Deschamps, editor of the literary and art magazine La Plume. Widhopff created illustrations for the Paris art press. He also created easel paintings - landscapes and still lifes, as well as cartoons for tapestry factories.
