Biography

Colon - French painter, born in Vézelay (Yonne), France. He was a pupil of a Lorraine marine painter named Alexis Nicolas Perignon, known as Pérignon the Elder (1726-1782). From 1799 to 1814, Colon created prints and paintings for Paris salons, depicting French and Italian coasts (including views of Lago di Agnano near Naples, formed in a crater depression and dried up in 1870), landscapes, views of castles, and nocturnes.
