Bartolomeo Bimbi was born in Florence and established himself as a still life painter of fruits and flowers. Bimbi had studied in Rome, where he was taught, for instance, by Lorenzo Lippi. His major clients included the Medici family in Florence. Works by Bartolomeo Bimbi are today preserved at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, as well as at the Uffizi in Florence. Finely rendered fruit still life with bright red cherries and green plums; Bartolomeo Bimbi’s works were very popular due to their high quality and botanical accuracy. Bimbi was thus very sought-after by prosperous clients including Cosimo III de 'Medici.
