oil, canvas, size 60 x 50 cm, by Rembrandt van Rijn (copy), dated ca. mid-19th century.
Reduced to a bust copy of a portrait of Saskia, wife of Rembrandt van Rijn, by him. The portrait is known in the literature as the "portrait of Saskia in a red hat" and is now in the painting collection of the former Wilhelmshohe Palace in Kassel. In the original, the portrait is shown in ¾ figure. This is one of the most popular depictions of Saskia. The image is also known from graphic works and was often copied by artists - especially in the 19th century. Our copy, presented in a period frame, has undoubted decorative value and can be an attractive addition to any interior.
