The portrait depicts Tadeusz Kosciuszko shown in bust, in left profile, in civilian clothes. The miniature is unique due to the early time of its creation and its private nature. It cannot be ruled out that it is the work of Jan Rustem, the author of many images of the chief, showing close analogies with the pastel presented at the auction (see miniatures from the collections of the Wawel Royal Castle and the National Museum in Warsaw from 1794).
