Alois Erbach (Wiesbaden 1888- 1972 Wiesbaden)-German painter, graphic artist, illustrator.

Initially worked as an inspector at the Land Registry Office, treating painting and drawing as his passion. In 1911 he began his studies at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. He studied landscape and portrait painting under Heinrich Knirra. In 1912 he exhibited his works with the art dealer Franz Josef Brakl, who is considered the discoverer of Franz Marc. In 1915-18 he served in the military during World War I. After his studies, he lived and worked as an independent artist in his hometown of Wiesbaden. In 1927 he moved to Berlin, where he rented an Atelier on Kurfürstendamm. During this period, he also worked as an illustrator and graphic designer for satirical magazines and newspapers focused on social and political criticism, including Die Pleite, Knüppel, Eulenspiegel and Rote Fahne. As an activist and activist, he participated in the exhibition of the "Association of Revolutionary Artists of Germany" (1931) and "Revolutionary Art" in Berlin (1932). Erbach's early work shows the influence of German Expressionism, later -surrealism. During the dictatorship of nationalism, he moved out to Majorca. After World War II, he returned to his native Wiesbaden, where he continued to create until the end of his life.
