Biography
Painter, illustrator, interior decorator, designer of stage sets for plays and ballets, author of the book "Yesterday", describing memories of the author's Parisian period and her husband, painter Louis Marcoussis (Louis Markus, 1883-1941). She initially studied painting at courses taught by Maria Niedzielska under Leon Wyczółkowski, Wojciech Weiss and Jozef Pankiewicz. In 1912 she went to study in Munich, and at the end of that year to Paris, where she settled permanently. She and her husband were associated with the artistic milieu of Paris - they were friends with Jean Miro, Moses Kisling, Jules Pascin, Hans Arp, Andre Breton, Leopold Zborowski, Tristatn Tzara. In the 1920s, she designed decorative textiles and wallpapers, and exhibited her work in galleries in Paris and London. A total of 38 solo exhibitions of the artist were held in Warsaw, Naples, Bombay, Rome, Ankara, among others. She painted mainly portraits, landscapes and still lifes. She also worked as an illustrator.
