Adrien Étienne Gaudez - prominent French sculptor. From 1862 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris under Jouffroy. In 1864 he showed at the Paris Salon his debut work Nymph Egeria
and immediately gained favor with French critics and the public. Then, in 1871, he co-designed a monument to the victims of the Franco-Prussian War in Magdeburg. He designed and executed a whole series of monuments, including those in Paris, Lille, Tours, Marseille and Caen. His works are in the museums of Brussels, Paris, Louviers, Marseille and Clermont-Ferrand, as well as in numerous private collections.
