Adolf Stademann was born on June 19, 1824 in Munich. He came from a family with well-established artistic traditions; his father was a renowned printmaker and worked at the Bavarian court. Adolf naturally followed in his father's footsteps, taking up studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where he studied under Carl August Lebschée and Moritz Lotze. The artist became particularly famous for his winter landscapes, in which he liked to focus on vast expanses of sky. He died on October 30, 1895.
