In 1905-1915 he stayed in Italy, and later (1916-1920) in Switzerland; in 1952 he became a "Citizen of Lugano." In 1920 he settled permanently in Paris. He was a member of the Union of Polish Painters and Sculptors. During World War II, he stayed in Switzerland. The artist shunned modern art groups, studied old and new masters, and collected works by his favorite artists. His painting is characterized by classical, elaborate composition, economy of means of expression and strong, luminous colors. He painted mainly landscapes, especially of the Mediterranean.
