Biography
He came from a family of factory owners in Lodz. After a short stay in Odessa, he moved to Krakow, where he studied from 1906-14 at the Academy of Fine Arts in the studios of Jozef Unierzyski, Wojciech Weiss and Jozef. Pankiewicz. Influenced by the latter, he went to Paris, where he settled permanently around 1910. He participated in exhibitions and Salons, including the Salon des Independents and the Salon des Tuileries. He repeatedly returned to Lodz. During World War II, he lived with his family in Marseilles, where he was captured and taken to Compiegne, Drancy and eventually to the Sobibor concentration camp, where he died. In addition to easel painting, he was also involved in illustrating books.
