Graduated from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in 1962 in the studios of J. Studnicki and J. Cybis. In 1967, together with Jury Zielinski, he organized a Neo-Neo-Neoexhibition at the Club Medyka in Warsaw . His paintings featured only four colors: red, green, blue and yellow. Double Girl, a painting painted in 1968 - is his first work in green and red, and is now part of the Guggenheim Museum's collection. In 1972, he moved to New York. In 1980 he created a series of paintings and drawings Erotikon, later Hope and Darkness and Either-or. Forbidden by censorship, his works from the period of martial law are characterized by pessimism: Bad Premonition, All Souls, Funeral, to the memory of Father Jerzy Popieluszko. He receiveda scholarship from the Kosciuszko Foundation in New York. He received the C. K. Norwid Awardin 1978 and the Jan Cybis Award for lifetime achievement in 1994.
