The theme of the Architectural Compositions series is the issue of Polish postmodernism, referring to the thoughts contained in Filip Springer's Badly Born. His book is an analysis of creative attitudes and the way of realization of architectural projects, resulting from political and economic conditions. Springer raises the problem of the destruction of certain architecture. During one of Marek Wozniczka's and Filip Springer's journeys, the phrase "badly born" was uttered, and it referred to modernist architecture, created under the system of command economy, associated with the communist era's mediocrity. Thus, one can observe a certain pattern of critical attitude, even aversion to recent history, what has just ended, "went out of fashion": one stands in opposition to it and condemns it to a kind of banishment. As a result, unwanted architecture declines, or is subjected to deliberate destruction. The Architectural Compositions series is a reference to this very problem, illustrated by the history of Solpol, which was the main point of reference during my work on the paintings. It represents for me a kind of symbol of the architecture of the period of political transformation. Nowadays, I perceive postmodernism precisely as "badly born". The architecture of the People's Republic of Poland no longer arouses such emotions as it did more than a decade ago, when Springer's book was published. In my opinion, it is already moving to the side of history that is not questioned. We have gained more distance from it and accept it, or at least remain more indifferent than reluctant. Postmodernism as , "recent history", located between the now and the "safe" history, arouses general resentment, and all the phenomena observed by Springer, translate into this period.
