Jan Markiewicz (b.1995) - graduate of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz (studies 2014-2019). He began his artistic path at classes at the Lodz House of Culture and DK 502. In addition to painting pictures, he is also involved in icons, drawing, painting murals, printmaking and art conservation.
He completed his diploma "Baluckie Sacrum" in 2019 in the studio of Prof. Piotr Stachlewski and Aleksandra Koziol. The appendix to the diploma in lithography was created in the studio of Dr. Witold Warzywoda.
In his current work, the artist focuses on showing the interpenetration of the sphere of the sacred with the sphere of the profane in everyday life. His sources of inspiration include his hometown of Lodz, the landscape of the countryside and suburbs, as well as spirituality and the art of icons.
