Vanessa Eslain Swigulska-Jop
Born in 1993 on June 4 in Lodz, Poland. Growing up in eclectic Lodz, developed in the artist a
fondness for industrialized, industrial structures, which are often an integral
element of the painter's works.
Despite graduating with a degree in architecture, the painter discovered that this was not an area that fully allowed her to
her to express her inner emotions and experiences. So she decided to seek her artistic
vocation in the field of graphic design. It was there that she found a spark of inspiration, which eventually
turned into a new creative passion and an unforgettable adventure.
In this field, she has already seen a small colorful light in the tunnel of her need for expression as evidenced by
is evidenced by obtaining a Master of Arts degree in the aforementioned field. Through a combination of photography,
photo-manipulation and the medium of short film, Vanessa has found a wider field for expressing
her artistic vision. Her surreal short films, based mainly on the technique of
experimental photography, are a testament to her creative exploration in the field of graphic design.
As part of her thesis, Vanessa created an extensive series of prints in etching technique,
which comprise a series entitled "Faces." The theme of this series was emotions, which the
the artist highlighted by creating unconventional collages. Her fascination with printmaking
continues in her later paintings, where she often weaves into traditional painting an
intricately executed relief.
The manoeuvring between various artistic techniques that allow her to refer to the
the unquestionable passage of time gives her work an extraordinary authenticity. Motifs of rust, stone and
concrete or patinated metals often recur in her works, perfectly reflecting the effect of the passage of
of time and inevitable changes. This subtle combination of precise technique with more expressive
forms creates a unique harmony and originality.
Vanessa Swigulska's work is the result of intricately applying countless colorful
lasers onto the canvas, making each successive layer give the work an extraordinary depth. The result
This process results in unobvious color combinations, which make it possible to
look for unusual color combinations of strong intensity.
However, in search of new forms of expression, Vanessa decided to move her painting
onto a surface that allows greater freedom to manipulate the substrate. In her latest works
the artist uses plates cut into unusual shapes, on which she places elements that form an
an integral part of the work. In this way, she gives her work spatiality and a place of
''breath'', allowing the painting to interact directly with the environment in which it is located.
Place becomes an important factor influencing the reception of the work, creating strong connections between the
painting and space.
Vanessa's transfer of painting to other types of ground plays an important role in the subject matter that the
artist undertakes in her creative endeavors. Focusing mainly on human beings, their
emotions and experiences, Vanessa recognizes that painting should reflect the realism of
of life. However, this does not mean a literal, photographic rendering of motifs, but a subtle depiction of the
man in the context of his surroundings.
As in life, our feelings and emotions exist in symbiosis with the environment, which also
creates another human being. In Vanessa's paintings, this relationship is of great importance. The artist does not
avoids spinning hypotheses and assigning meaning to her works. On the contrary, she attaches to each
painting a white poem, which becomes an integral part of the artistic creation. In most of the works
painter one can see the strong human impact and her fascination with psychology. The long-standing
addiction, which the artist has overcome, has left a lasting mark on her life, showing both the
the fragility of humanity, as well as the extraordinary strength that lies within ourselves
At one point in her life, the artist's dream became a mission to help and make people aware of their
inner strength. Being a living example of how passion for art and love for the
loved ones can transform us. The artist's works are an expression of this desire and are a visual
story of human transformation and the potential that lies within ourselves.
