A beautiful and very rare numismatic piece.
A natural, healthy thaler in a charming golden patina. With luster and very good relief. Mint disc crack at the top, otherwise unqualified. Exceptionally beautiful for this type.
The Kraków thaler of Wladyslaw IV is a typologically important issue. The mint in Kraków began minting this denomination only at the end of King Wladyslaw's reign, minting them for only a few years. All these mintages are very rare, and only a few advanced collections can boast their possession.
The present thaler is the second type - with the bust of the king depicted in profile.
A variety with the initials of the mintmaster (C-DC - Claudio de Canotti) written horizontally above the date numerals. Identified by Jan Dostych as grade R6-R7.
