An impressive and very rare item.
This is not only the mint crown thaler of Sigismund III, but also a very rare, distinctive variety.
Despite the mass issue, thalers, a prestigious denomination of high value, were made at the Bydgoszcz mint very carefully, with great care. Errors are encountered on them only occasionally, especially when they concern the date. Here we have a thaler with a misprinted numeral 6 - in mirror image. A variety unlisted in the Kopicki, Kurpiewski catalogs, described by Jan Dostych with a rarity grade of R7.
Beautiful state of preservation. Mint mirror, sharp relief. Fully deservedly high NGC MS63 grade with a plus emphasizing excellent presentation.
Second highest grade among all thalers of this vintage in NGC and PCGS grading.
