Biography
Dariusz Grabusia's artistic activity takes place at the intersection of several forms: painting, photography, architecture and what is expressed in the juggling of geometry: shapes, lines, solids, shadows, incorporated into captured frames, fragments of the whole. The artist uses a variety of styles, drawing from both realism and pop art. Workshop, precise perception of the world, as well as the relationship between the individual and space. The artist studied at the Faculty of Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk and the Sopot School of Photography. From the very beginning of his painting and photographic work, he has a distinct, recognizable style, which is a consequence of a clearly formulated artistic vision of the world. Important for the artist is such a capture of the individual or social interactions in everyday life, in situations that very often reveal alienation, alienation or simply presence or lack thereof. One can see in this work the inspiration of both Mediterranean architecture, the line of blue between sky and sea, the casual elegance of luxury and unadulterated luminosity. Of course, there are also discernible inspirations from Hockney, Hopper (painting), Erwin Olaf or Julius Shulman (photography), so natural when, creating over the cold Baltic, one longs for the sunshine of California. We greatly appreciate this dose of vitamin D. The intensity, the density of the color scheme is broken by the artist's ever-present shadow. This is an inalienable element of even the most optimistic fragment of reality. Dariusz Grabusi's works have been presented at many individual and group exhibitions. They can be found in private collections in Poland and abroad.
