A beautiful circular piece, with luster and charming patina.
In our opinion, one of the nicest trojaks of this type on the collector's market.
A highly probable rarity with a crowned eagle (!) on the reverse, a typologically valued troyak with the Swan coat of arms and the letter W instead of V.
For the first time on the domestic numismatic market, over 30 years.
No such variant in the specialized catalogs of Iger and Ivanauskas.
No listing in all available domestic auction archives.
Photographs of the coin have been made available to Eugenijus Ivanauskas for publication in the latest catalog of Lithuanian coins yet to be released, which is an added treat for the prospective buyer! The coin has even already been assigned a new position with the description:
"6SV198-41 Crowned Eagle on reverse. O. SIG-III D G/-REX-PO M D L R.-III-/-GROS-ARG-/ TRIP-M D L-/ 16 / Swan / W / 01"
Rarity: Ultra Rare. Provenance: Private collection."
The author of the catalog stated that he had never seen such a piece before, hence he gave the rarity ULTRA RARE (according to the now new division).
Inscription variation of the SIG III obverse legend, on the reverse a skinny crowned Eagle.
A coin definitely for the best collections!
Obverse: bust of Sigismund III Vasa, wearing crown and armor, with orifice to the right, in the rim legend with punctuation SIG III D G - REX PO M D L;
