An exquisite piece of a very rare triplicate minted in 1565.
Great freshness, strong luster, charming patina.
Very rare in this state of preservation.
A historically interesting coin, attributed by Ivanauskas to the Tykocin mint.
Quoting Tadeusz Iger:
"In 1565, trojaks began to be minted, which, instead of a monogram and surrounding inscription, had a quotation from the second Psalm of David "Qui habitat in coelis irridebit eos" (he who dwells in heaven will mock them).... These troikas are often called mockers and are now rare. ..."
However, there are studies questioning the "mocking" nature of the reverse. One of the arguments against it is the fact raised by Z.Piech that this fragment of the psalm is a prayer, and this cannot be treated in the category of mockery.
Zbigniew Kiełb in"Coats of arms of Polish and Lithuanian officials.... " sees the reason for the creation of this troika in internal conflicts.
In turn, B. Paszkiewicz proposed an interpretation of the quote as a declaration of royal will linked to preparations for the Polish-Lithuanian union.
Variety with the ending of the legend LI.
For the best collections.
