A nice piece, centrally deficient.
A rare Elblag penny from 1534 with the letter D in DO on the obverse stamped in mirror image. Errors on pennies minted in Elblag are very rare and this type of mistake is even unique when it comes to such coins.
In Grzegorz Romanczyk's upcoming book, this variant is numbered GE1534_18 with an assigned rarity of RRR (4 to 10 known pieces).
Obverse: in the pearl rim the city's coat of arms, in the outer rim the legend beginning with a rosette:
GROSSVS*CIVIT*ELBINGK*1534;
Reverse: in the pearl rim the coat of arms of Royal Prussia, in the outer rim a legend beginning with a trifoliate:
SIGIS*AND*REX*PO*TO*TO*CI*PRVS;
