A rare 1533 Danzig penny with a bust in a low crown. This crown has no bails.
According to Gregory Romanczyk, this type of bust appears on Danzig pennies from 1532 to 1535 but all these coins are rare.
In his upcoming book, this variant is numbered GGd1533_10 with an assigned rarity of RRR (4 to 10 known pieces).
Obverse: in the pearl rim crowned coat of arms of Gdansk, in the outer rim a legend started with the mint mark hooks:
GROSSVS-CIVI-DANCZ-1533;
Reverse: in the pearl rim a royal bust in armor and crown, to the right, in the outer rim a legend started with a star:
SIGIS-I-REX-PO-DO-TOCI-PR;
