Ladislaus I Herman, Denar of Cracow - VΛDIZLΛVS.
Denarius of the duke Wladyslaw I Herman minted at the Cracow mint. Second issue - presumably minted (according to Piotr Chabrzyk) from 1089, i.e. from the death of Mieszko Boleslawovic and the assumption of rule in Cracow by Wladyslaw I Herman.
Av.: Head of the ruler facing left. In the rim a wrong name of the ruler: VΛDIZLΛVS
Rw.: A building with three towers crowned with crosses. In the rim a barbarized inscription CRΛCOV.
Variant with towers topped by crosses.
Error in ruler's name VΛDIZLΛVS instead of VLΛDIZLΛVS.
Punctuation variant without bullets In the obverse inscription on the reverse.
Condition: NGC MS64
Minor stamp defects visible on the obverse, but a beautifully struck and preserved piece. Good detail. Charming patina. A more interesting variety with an error in the ruler's name. Very high NGC grade. In this state of preservation, the coin is rare and difficult to find on the collector market. Piece for discerning collectors.
