A rare coin typologically, much rarer than the 20 mark. The rarity of 10 fenigs, is due to the fact that this was the lowest denomination which, as a result of rapid inflation, quickly lost its value. A handful of these coins were not enough for a kaiser. These coins minted in a combustible aluminum-magnesium alloy were used en masse to light fires. And so the mintage did not wear through circulation, but was literally burned. Few pieces survived. Aluminum-magnesium, due to its chemical reactivity, oxidizes relatively easily, hence it is very difficult to find nicely preserved pieces without holes or pits. In this condition, a very rare coin.
