Grade: XF+
Reference: Kopicki (-); Haczewska-Paszkiewicz 3; Garbaczewski 179

An exquisite Piast brakteat, characterized by mature sculptural craftsmanship.
The coin interpreted by Vytautas Garbachevsky as depicting a ruler with a lily scepter, which may be both the staff of the Old Testament high priest Aaron (the sign of God's chosen ruler) and the rod of justice (the sign of a magistrate ruler).
Kraków (or Sandomierz) issue from 1230-40, before the Mongol invasion of 1241.

Beautifully minted and preserved numismatic coin, with mint luster and charming patina.
Wide puck, minor mint sheet curling.
For the best collections - definitely recommended.

obverse: half figure in robe facing right, holding a lily scepter in front of him, rings in the fields
