A circulating, well readable piece.
Type VI bust used in the later mass issue, but the reverse of the early type with wrapped shields and three rosettes. A very important coin from a numismatic point of view. Unbeknownst to the author of the catalog when he wrote the article "Crown sixpences of John Casimir from 1667-1668 from mints leased by Boratini - mint assignments" in No. 2/2016 of the Numismatic Bulletin. This variety is further evidence supporting the presented thesis on the attribution of the 1667 sixpences. The only piece known to the author of the catalog.
The coin illustrated in the catalog by L. Ciura.
Note: the book is not the subject of the auction.
The 1667 Bydgoszcz sixpences form a very diverse group of coins. The differences on the reverse concern the shape of the shields of arms and the decorations between them and next to the crown. Differences on the obverse concern only the bust, which can be attributed to several types.
