France, Napoleon III, 1 Franc Paris 1866 A - SEDAN - RARE

Very rare coin with the face value of 1 franc Napoleon III with a stamped countermark on the obverse of the SEDAN. It is this countermark that proves the rarity and uniqueness of the offered coin. This inscription is the aftermath of the defeat of the French army with the Prussian army in the Battle of Sedan, which took place on September 1-2, 1870. After this defeat, the Second French Empire was overthrown.
