Rare, hard-to-find vintage Danzig ducats.
On the obverse, scratches at the top, above the crown, and visible rubbing in the background surrounding the royal portrait. On the reverse, the surface defects are not noticeable. Lots of natural mint freshness preserved throughout, including the rubbed areas of the obverse. Ex. NGC 5780846-015 with AU Details Repaired grade.
Issued during the period of mint management by Samuel Bermann, whose initials are placed under the console.
The vintage is known for four varieties - the present ducat is a variety with a distinctive pinnacle with a small leaf suspended below the console. Identified by Jaroslaw Dutkowski as R5, known from the collections of Hutten-Czapski, Chominski and Frankiewicz, among others.
