The artist about the inspiration for the painting:
For several years the subject of the mythological Medusa has been "walking " behind me. Most of the known depictions show Medusa as a bloodthirsty beast or its dead decapitated head. My depiction of this amazing creature shows it in a dream. This is how things can happen differently now. Medusa sleeps peacefully, there is no restlessness in it only the snakes are alert. In one image I showed calmness and activity. We don't know quite whether the snakes are Medusa's hair or they just shroud her or maybe with their hissing they put her to sleep giving solace in her dark existence ....
