David Schab (born Dawid Schab), born 1973 in Rybnik, lived for many years in Tychy, now lives and works in Bristol, UK. Studied Law, graduated in Political Science at the University of Silesia in Katowice and post-graduate in Painting in the studio of Prof. Włodzimierz Karankiewicz at the Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa.
He has been involved in easel painting since 1999, but drawing has accompanied him from an early age. For 2 years he attended drawing and painting classes at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. The artist's preferred technique is oil on canvas and dry pastels on paper. David's works are characterized by very rich and bold colors, strong contrasts and the play of light and shadow, which brings to mind the Fauvist style and expressionism. David is strongly influenced by painters such as Henri Matisse, Paul Gauguin, Jan Szancenbach and David Hockney. The subjects of his works are mainly still lifes, landscapes and portraits.
He has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in Poland and Great Britain. His works are in collections throughout Europe, the United States, South Africa and Asia. He is a frequent charity contributor, donating his works to charity auctions, mainly for sick children. Publications in: Artist and Art (No. 31), Polish Week (UK), Gennaio Toscana Nuova (Italy), Vogue (UK edition).
