From 1968 he studied at the Faculty of Painting and Graphic Arts at the Institute of Fine Arts in Vilnius, where he received his diploma in 1973. He is the author of paintings, posters, drawings, book illustrations, ex-librises, as well as organizer of happenings and creator of sculptures, objects and installations. He has lived and worked in Warsaw since 1980. Among other awards, he is the winner of the 1994 "Passport" of the Polityka weekly for lifetime achievement, the Gold Medal at the Polish Poster Biennale in Katowice (1999), the Lithuanian Order of Gediminas, the national Lithuanian award in the field of art. In 2010 he was awarded the silver medal "Meritorious for Culture Gloria Artis" by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage . Stasys' works have been exhibited in more than 100 exhibitions and are held by national museums in Poland, as well as London's British Museum, MoMA in New York, Washington's National Library, Creation Gallery in Tokyo and the Vatican Museums, among others. In 1994, Andrzej Papuzinski created the film "Seven Mysteries According to Stasys (Stone, Pendulum, Desire, Hunger, Labyrinth, Hope, Liberation)."
