Biography
Born in 1922 in Poznań. He ranks alongside Ociepka and Nikifor among the best Polish non-professional artists. He graduated from elementary school. During the occupation he was deported to Germany for labor. There he began to draw and paint. Upon his return, he worked at Cegielski's, and was also a driver for a Poznan streetcar. He completely devoted himself to creativity after he retired. He died in 1988. The main theme of his works is the architecture of Poznan, astonishing in its specific depiction, colors and perspective solutions, which reflect the point of view of the streetcar driver. The late graphic designer Zbigniew Kaja, art critic Adam Kochanowski and Arsenal City Gallery director Wojciech Makowiecki had a major hand in promoting his work. Currently, Warczygłowa's works are in museums in Krakow, Poznan, Zabrze , Warsaw and Hamburg.
