Graduated from OSMW and sailed as navigator on ORP "Blyskawica" and ORP "Gryf". He defended his doctorate in astronavigation, which he then taught at the Naval Academy for 10 years, and the next 10 years at the Naval Academy.
Szczepanek's most important passion was painting, more specifically, watercolor, in which he achieved true mastery and a position as one of Poland's leading artists. The author of many solo exhibitions at home and abroad, he is a member of ZPAP.
Polish castles have fascinated the artist for many years. Zbigniew Szczepanek's countless travels throughout the country, combined with visits to more historic buildings, have resulted in a fascinating collection of "portraits of castles" painted from nature: in different seasons and changing shots, sometimes bringing closer the elusive detail, sometimes the opposite - thanks to the perspective showing the monumentality of the buildings.
