Zbigniew Makowski (b. 1930 - d. 2019) Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Painter and poet working in the circle of surrealism. In the 1960s he composed his paintings from magic signs, symbols and props, also sentences and longer texts. The artist received the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Art Criticism Award and the Jan Cybis Awards. His work combines the symbolism of numbers, signs, cultures. He also refers to surrealism and the language of geometry.
The artist is like a commander, commanding his army: with lines and colors. He strives for what? - To victory. And victory is a great work of art. Every great work of art is a victory over weaknesses and doubts. If someone has no doubts then he is not an artist, but a psychopath. Zbigniew Makowski
