Wojciech Pietrasz (born in 1973 in Rzeszów) is a graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He received his diploma with distinction in 1998 in the studio of Prof. Adam Wsiolkowski. He works in painting, drawing and photography. He lives and works in Cracow. He is associated with informal groups of painters: "Neoromantics" and "Project of Unknown Title". He comes from Niebylec and this very name well describes his work, full of understatements, suspended in time and not obvious.
Wojciech Pietrasz seems to play the role of a frogman who, with undisguised pleasure, descends into the depths of Polish mythology and one by one unearths characters with images already subject to partial decay. Słowacki, Mickiewicz, Norwid in Wojciech Pietrasz's edition dissolve spectacularly retaining only a penetrating, sharp gaze. The bard-zombie stripped of pathos, draped in grotesque, observes.
