Biography
Studied at the Faculty of Painting at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Sopot. He received his diploma in 1952, in the studio of Professor Artur Nacht-Samborski. From 1951-84, he worked at his alma mater, the State Higher School of Visual Arts in Gdansk (now: Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk). From 1965 to 1968 he was dean of the Faculty of Painting, and from 1968-69 he was pro-rector of the academy. In 1969-81 he served as its rector of the Academy of Fine Arts. Co-founder of the Gdansk Group. Creator of numerous nudes, landscapes, still lifes and abstract geometric compositions; his work is characterized by varied textures, rich and sophisticated colors.
