assemblage, 80 x 55 x 14 cm, described on the back: '"To the Memory of a Friend"| 1980| 80 x 55 x 14 cm | Hasior W'.

ORIGIN:
- Private collection, Germany (purchased directly from the artist in 1990).

Painter, stage designer, educator and, above all, sculptor. The artist studied from 1952-58 at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the Department of Sculpture, under the direction of Marian Wnuk. In 1959, after receiving a scholarship from the French Ministry of Culture, he entered Paris, where he completed his sculptural studies in the studio of French sculptor Ossip Zadkine. In 1957-68 he was a teacher at the Kenar School in Zakopane. He also worked as a stage designer at the Polish Theater in Wroclaw from 1970 to 1971, and was a member of the artistic group Phases. Hasior made a name for himself on the international art scene as a creator of metaphorical assemblages. He constructed his sculptural compositions from ready-made objects, often found at fairs and indulgences. Giving them a new meaning then, they played the role of signs and symbols in his works. Hasior was also an author of monuments. He was associated with Zakopane, where he lived and created. His author's gallery was also located there. The artist participated in the Sao Paulo Biennale in 1965 and 1971 and the Venice Biennale in 1970. In addition, he also showed his works in Paris, Stockholm, Rome, Brussels and Moscow.
