Tomasz Sętowski (born 1961) Painter and graphic artist from Częstochowa. He graduated in fine arts from the Częstochowa Higher School of Pedagogy, although, as he claims, he is a self-taught painter. He places fantastic figures, often in costumes and headgear imitating architecture, mainly Gothic castles and towers, against a background of zoned landscapes. His painting is described as magic realism. He uses a flat-layered color stain and captures details with extreme precision and detail, which creates strongly decorative works. The artist's paintings were shown at the national exhibition "Polish Surrealists" presented in 1995-1997. He also presented his works at many solo exhibitions in Poland and abroad (including New York and Dubai). In Czestochowa he runs an author's gallery called the Museum of Imagination. The artist's paintings can be found in many significant private and museum collections, including the Maritime Museum in Gdansk and the Museum of Fantastic Art in Switzerland. His works have repeatedly adorned the covers of magazines and books.
