Lady Gaga - triptych, 2013

each work signed and described on the painter's loom: SZYMON SZEWCZYK GAGA [corresponding number].
Szymon Szewczyk is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice in the studio of Andrzej Tobis. As a multimedia artist, he uses many forms of artistic expression from traditional painting through sculpture, collage, installation and, as DMKHV, he is also involved in music bordering on electronic or sound design. In his works, the artist, exploring the excess of cultural or scientific output, finds interesting such topics as, among others, the doubt in orderly knowledge of the world, the reliability of scientific texts, the theme of imitation or creative makeshift of the communist era, now found in the DIY method. Szymon Szewczyk uses, among other things, cheap materials such as veneers that imitate potentially expensive elements such as wood or stone in their design. Also, acrylic gypsum used by him for casts that imitate sculptures or objects that can be found, for example, in ethnographic museums. Other elements include metal rods - associated with wickets from allotment gardens, or floor coverings in peculiarly brown tones, alluding to the communist era. The creator is also involved in graphic design and stage design, and has worked with such theaters as the Silesian Theater in Katowice, the National Old Theater and the J. Slowacki Theater in Cracow, and the J. Osterwa Theater in Lublin.
