"Each landscape by Simon Mondzain testifies to the artist's ferocious struggle to achieve a balance between his inner vision and reality. The result is a dazzling series of light-saturated views (...) faithful to the painterly methods of the Impressionists, he works in the open air. Here he is interested in a fragment of the landscape, which, thanks to its structure, constitutes a unified whole. Such a landscape became a point of reference for him and allowed him to present himself as a colorist. Nature, like a compass, will henceforth indicate the rhythm of his activities." W. George, Simon Mondzain, "L'Amour de l'art." 1923, no. 9, pp. 688-690
