"Whether out of respect for drawing or love of color, Mondzain avoids lighting effects that thicken the air, but also blur the contours of objects and suppress the vividness of colors (...) it can be said that there is no "color" in Mondzain's paintings - there are single colors, skillfully orchestrated through a harmony of pigment rather than light qualities. Large, smooth patches are laid down on the canvas by a painter who does not try to convey, as faithfully as possible, his visual experience, but who cares primarily about revealing the decorative qualities of color (...)."
