Biography
In 2013-16 he was associated with the Vlepvent Foundation and the V9 Gallery in Warsaw. In 2015-19, together with Karolina Mełnicka, he created the Nomadic State project. Stach Szumski quotes and deconstructs iconographic motifs used in human communication since its dawn: from prehistoric wall paintings or medieval alchemical symbols to contemporary graffiti, prison tattoo patterns and deconstructed logos of global corporations. He weaves symbols from different eras and cultures into organic, ornamental forms. The paintings are usually created as improvisations. His realizations can be seen in Tokyo, Mexico and Jelenia Gora, among others.
