Biography
In 1931-34 he studied sciences and then painting at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of K.Tische and J. Kurzatkowski. The war interrupted his studies, and he received his diploma in 1955, at the Department of Graphics of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, of which he was already a teacher at the time. During the war, he was a prisoner of the oflag in Murnau, where, together with J.Soltan, B.T.Urbanowicz and A.Siemaszko, they produced stage designs for plays staged by the camp theater. Since 1956, he led a studio of solids and planes at the Academy of Fine Arts, which was later called the studio of "visual actions and structures." In the late 1960s, he created abstract oil compositions. He cooperated with the "Crooked Circle" Gallery of M. Bogusz, participated in "Confrontations 1965" in Elblag, the Symposium of Artists and Scientists in 1966 in Puławy, his works were exhibited at the exhibition "Space, Movement, Light" in 1967 in Wrocław. A full professor since 1972, he was honored with the Jan Cybis Award in 2008, a year before his death.
