Roman NOWOTARSKI (1931-2019), City by Night

Painter, stage designer, pedagogue, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice from 1953 to 1959 at the Faculty of Graphic Arts in Cracow, receiving his diploma in 1959 from B. Górecki and A. Rak. He was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, where he led the drawing and painting studio. He participated in many exhibitions and national competitions and received numerous awards, including a gold medal at the 1974 Warsaw Poster Biennale. He was a theater and film set designer. In 2013, the Museum of the History of Katowice, together with the artist's students and collaborators from the Katowice Academy of Fine Arts, prepared the exhibition "Hommage à Nowotarski," organized in the museum's main building.
