In 1997 he graduated from the State High School of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 2002, he graduated with honors from the Painting Department of the European Academy of Arts in Warsaw under the direction of Professor Barbara Szubinska. Before that, he studied in the studios of Professors Antoni Fałat, Andrzej Sadowski and Ewa Pełka. He has participated in more than a hundred individual and collective exhibitions. In 2004, he received the Scholarship of the Fund for Promotion of Creativity from the Ministry of Culture and Art. In 2008 he received the scholarship ,,Young Poland" from the National Cultural Center. His works are in many institutional and private collections at home and abroad, and have been exhibited in London, New York, Insbruck, Munich and Amsterdam, among others. Motelski's artistic interests focus on the study of landscape and on the innovative way of presenting it. "He starts from the study of the landscape, because he is inspired by nature: water, trees, reeds, fire, mountains... But he does not strive for a photographic representation of reality, but for its summary, synthesis, capturing the essence of nature simplified or sublimated. This creative idea could lead towards abstraction, which, as the painter admits, has always been close to him. But Motelski's paintings are still realistic painting. "Realistic motifs create the possibility of conveying other content as well," the artist explains. Resisting short-lived fads, relying on his masterful technique and respect for the painting tradition, he gives resistance to the illusion that the world burns in conflicts, tensions and violence. He soothes anxieties. By painting reeds, trees, water, light or snow in long, precisely dated cycles, he helps meditate on the constancy and beauty of the world, the peaceful rhythm of birth and dying, the harmony of perfect nature." (from a review of one of the exhibitions).
