Rafal Sowinski, born in 1984, is an artist with deep artistic and educational roots. Since childhood, he has devoted himself to his passion for art, especially drawing and printmaking. He studied Philosophy and Theology, which brought deep reflections on the existential and spiritual aspects of life to his work.
Despite his short period as an art student, he decided to develop his individual path in art. He is inspired by the technique of comics and fantasy, especially the works of Zdzislaw Beksinski, and analyzes the work of great artists, drawing inspiration from different eras and art trends.
His works adorn private collections in Poland and abroad, including Germany, Belgium, Iceland and Australia. The artist does not follow fashion or create on commission. His paintings are created in the artist's head and are unique and extremely precise, conveying emotions and commenting on reality.
The artist has participated in various exhibitions and national competitions, including those in Bydgoszcz and Cieszyn. His works were also presented at an exhibition at the Municipal Public Library in Ilawa, titled. "Scars" (September 6-27, 2019), and at the exhibition "Alter ego" from November 1 to 30, 2023.
The artist's graphics are saturated with a high emotional charge, are characterized by moral anxiety and show the themes of the struggle between good and evil, human struggles and the manipulation to which modern man is subjected. He always remains in the shadow of his works and does not comment on them publicly, leaving them to private interpretation, stressing that everyone can find a piece of themselves in them.
At the age of 33, he was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, which became an important part of his life story. Thanks to this diagnosis, he found it easier to understand and accept his difference, which was reflected in his artwork. One of the artist's goals is to show the richness of the inner world of people with Asperger's Syndrome, their problems and the fight against discrimination resulting from the ignorance of those around them.
